| The province capital Trat
is situated 300 kilometres southeast from Bangkok. It
has well over 20,000 inhabitants and is mostly used
as a stop-off point for visitors to Koh Chang, Koh Kood
or one of the other islands. Also for the journey via
Koh Kong to Sihanouk
Ville, Cambodia, Trat is the starting point.
(See 'Ko-Chang-Information', 'Arrival
& Departure: 6) Onward Travelling'.) |

Laem Ngop is a small
port town approximately 17 kilometres southwest
of Trat. There the piers to reach Koh Chang and
the other surrounding islands are located. As well
as inexpensive guesthouses, the national park head
office, the tourist information office, the malaria
office, a small clinic, a branch of the Thai Farmer
Bank and the sea-battle-monument with museum can
be found here.
