Money, Exchange
There is still no bank or official exchange office on Koh Chang, but already a teller machine at White Sand Beach. And in many hotels and bungalow resorts cash and travellers cheques can be exchanged, occasionally up to a 10-per cent fee. Also it is possible to obtain money with credit cards (Visa, American Express) at some resorts. There are several banks located in Trat and also on the main street in Laem Ngop there is a branch of the Thai Farmers Bank. (For changing travellers cheques don't forget your passport!)
Opening-hours are Monday - Friday from 8.30 am - 3.30 pm except on holidays.

Rate of exchange
Best to check with the 'Currency-Converter-Button' (see navigation) directly in the internet. You can expect roughly between 65 and 70 Baht for a Pound, between 37 and 42 Baht for a US-Dollar and between 45 and 49 Baht for a Euro.

Communication: Telephone, Internet
You can find Internet-cafés at all of the 4 largest beaches on Koh Changs west coast (White Sand Beach, Khlong Prao Beach, Kai Bae Beach and Lonely Beach).
Because internet connection must be made with either mobiles or satellites, the fees are far more expensive than on the mainland, expect to pay between 5 and 8 Baht per minute. At the post office and in some resorts and restaurants, overseas and mainland telephone calls can be made. The prices range from 15-25 Baht per minute for a mainland call and 50-80 Baht for an overseas call.
In some villages on Koh Chang there are telephone boxes to make overseas calls, which work with Pre Paid cards. These however are frequently broken.
At all beaches on the west coast except Lonely Beach, mobile reception is ensured, as well as in many other locations around Koh Chang.
