(Khlong Prao Beach)

Khlong Prao Beach (Haad Khlong Prao) is scarcely a 3,5 kilometre long sand beach, situated south of White Sand Beach. The beach is divided into 3 sections by a channel in the south and the river estuary of the Khlong Plu in the north.

The northern and southern part are both a good kilometre long and the middle one approximately 1,5 kilometres. In the north it ends at the rock Laem Chai Chet. The southern sector, which is called Khlong Makok Beach, borders with Kai Bae Beach.
The beach is rather flat, like almost all along the west coast, but nevertheless well suitable for bathing.

Two small islands, Koh Suwan and Koh Rom are located at the southern end of Khlong Prao Beach.

The road runs almost everywhere in suitable distance from the beach and accommodation.

The village Baan Khlong Prao consists of 2 areas. The original part is built mostly on stakes into the river estuary while the other section is directly by the road.
Shops, restaurants and gas stations are located here as well as Internet cafés.

Also in Baan Khlong Prao, about 100 metres from the road you can find a small clinic. Opening-times: Monday - Friday 8.30 am - 4.30 pm, no telephone.

2.5 kilometres away from the northern end of the beach, towards Kai Bae Beach, is the road to the most popular and well-known waterfall on the island, Khlong Plu Waterfall, (see also 'Sights', 'Waterfalls').

Arrival & Departure:
Khlong Prao Beach can be reached from the piers in approximately 30 minutes by taxi for 40 Baht. If you have advanced bookings you should tell the taxi driver the name of the resort or the hotel, otherwise you can get the driver to stop anywhere you want by knocking on the car-body.

The departure times of the taxis to Dan-Kao-Pier are subject to seasonal change, so check in advance.
